Meet Saller, Ernstberger, & McElroy Law: Leadership Portraits in Downtown Baltimore

There’s something particularly rewarding about being invited back.

I’ve photographed the team at Saller, Ernstberger, & McElroy Law before, and they’ve quickly become a favorite client of mine. So when the firm’s leadership evolved and it was time for updated photographs, I was thrilled to head back to Baltimore for another half day together.

This time, we focused on updated leadership portraits for Andrew, Hannah, and Lillian, along with new group photographs to reflect the firm’s current team—especially important as they celebrate Lillian’s new partnership.

Congratulations, Lillian!

When Leadership Changes, Your Photography Should Too

Company photography isn’t something you create once and check off the list forever.

People join the team. Roles change. Businesses grow. Leadership evolves.

And when that happens, the photographs representing the company should evolve with it.

For Saller Law, we needed polished individual portraits and group photographs that felt appropriate for an established Baltimore law firm without making everyone look overly formal or unapproachable.

Fortunately, we had one of my favorite backdrops waiting upstairs.

Their rooftop.

The cityscape from Saller Law’s building is fantastic, and I love incorporating Baltimore itself into their portraits. The skyline immediately gives the photographs a sense of place and creates something far more specific to their firm than a generic office backdrop ever could.

But we didn’t stay on the roof.

Taking the Portrait Session Into Baltimore

One of my favorite parts of photographing Saller Law is walking.

We headed out into the surrounding streets looking for architecture, textures, lines, and little pockets of Baltimore that could become our next backdrop.

That’s the fun of environmental portraiture: I don’t necessarily need to know exactly where every photograph will happen before we leave the office.

We walk.

I look.

And when I see something good, we stop.

Baltimore gives us so much to work with—historic architecture, stone, brick, steps, doorways, city streets, and buildings with enough visual weight to complement the stature of the firm.

The result is a collection that feels professional and established, but also distinctly Baltimore.

Professional Doesn’t Have to Mean Stiff

Of course, between all of those polished photographs, we joked around.

We laughed.

We wandered around the city together.

And, like so many of my favorite clients, somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like I was photographing a group of people I work for and started feeling like I was spending the afternoon with friends.

I think that matters.

Saller Law describes its approach as combining legal experience with compassion and personal attention, and their photography should feel equally human. A law firm’s portraits can communicate confidence and credibility without stripping away everyone’s personality.

That’s always the balance I’m looking for.

Strong, but approachable.

Polished, but genuine.

And professional without everyone looking like they’re enduring picture day. 😂

Saller Law now has an updated collection of leadership portraits and group photographs ready for its website, marketing, announcements, and whatever comes next.

Because when the people representing your organization change, it’s worth making sure the photographs representing it change, too.

Thanks, Andrew, Hannah, Lillian, and the entire Saller Law team for another fantastic afternoon in Baltimore.

I’m already looking forward to the next walk around the block.
