My dear friend Amber (remember, Amber, the incredible ballet dancer?) asked me out to her family butcher shop, Maurer & Miller Meats (also commonly referred to as M & M Meats) in Hampstead, Maryland. It is time for these fine three men to retire and relax, and she wanted to preserve her father’s legacy. Amber’s cousins decided to join in the retirement gift, and we hosted an extended photo session to document all three butchers: George, Steve, and Tom.

I wanted to capture some edgy portraits for these hard workers, and Amber brought her own artistic twist to the composition requests (Amber is an extremely talented fine artist in addition to her dance skills).
