The Gala of the year… Target Community & Educational Services’ Green Tie Gala

I may have walked in feeling a little anxious – that’s not uncommon when photographing a special event, where meaningful moments unfold back-to-back and there’s no way to control what happens next. That kind of fast-paced environment always asks a lot of a photographer, but after roughly 10 years of photographing this event, I’ve come to know its rhythm well.

Even so, I have to say – this year’s Target Community & Educational Services’ Green Tie Gala was one of my favorites.

There is something really special about working with an organization over time. As the years go by, relationships deepen, people grow more comfortable, and the experience becomes more personal in the best possible way. This year, I found myself sharing so many smiles, hugs, and genuine catch-ups throughout the evening. By the end of the night, I was even dancing while I worked.

More than anything, I felt warmly welcomed. The Target team didn’t just make me feel like “the photographer” in the room – they made me feel like a friend. That kind of connection is a gift, and it made the evening all the more meaningful to photograph.

Target is very near and dear to my heart. They do phenomenal work, and I’m excited to see where the organization is headed under its fresh leadership, alongside the fabulous Gail Slater, my friend and truly one of the hearts of Target.

I’m excited to share a few more images from the evening below – moments that reflect not only the energy and celebration of the gala, but the heart behind the people who make this organization so special.
