My dad, Doug Heck, has been wood turning for a number of years, making gorgeous bowls, and treating the ladies in the family to unique wood-turned ornaments every year for Christmas. The Taneytown History Museum will be reopening with a display called, "Century of Toys". In preparation for their new display, they reached out to my dad to take the lead on hand-making old-fashioned wooden toys.
He and a group of volunteers were hard at work for well over a month. The toys are available for purchase, as a fundraiser for the museum. The museum re-opens on SUNDAY April 15th, 2018, at 1:00 PM. Stop by to check out the new displays. You might find an awesome toy or two! Below, see a number of photographs of the toys my dad and his volunteers have been hard at work on (and scroll further down to see a video of the spinning top, and to see more of my dad's personal wood turning pieces!!).
